Pardon the up-and-downy-ness of things over the last few hours... I've been implementing a new caching system that should (a) mean faster page loads, and (b) fewer demands on system resources.

If you spot any weird behavior from here on out, let me know.

I'm installing some new anti-spam code today, so if any JournURL users are hit with surprising errors, please let me know. I've been working on it for a while, so it hopefully won't cause downtime due to errors, but ya never know...

Sorry for the up-and-down nature of things over the last 48 hours, folks. We've been experiencing some significant database problems, but I think (hope, pray) that I'm the road to straightening them out.

Further updates as necessary.

In what could be most generously described as a "blindingly stupid oversight", attachments haven't been going out via RSS feeds or email subscriptions. This is now fixed.

Sorry for the stupidity.

Tweaking the "Add Link" Form

I've noted some confusion among JournURL newbies when it comes to adding links to their blogrolls. So I've made some minor changes.

When you click "add link" under the "blogging" tab, it now opens a stripped-down form that only displays the bare essentials needed to add something to your link collection. Some of the form elements are also relabeled, to make the process a bit clearer.

Naturally, power users can still use the standard, full-featured form to add collection items... this is just a tweak to work around the average user's most common problems.
